The short answer
- Pick LeagueLobster if building the schedule is the hard part. It fits games around venues, time slots, travel time and back-to-backs. Simple Standings does not try to.
- Pick Simple Standings if the table is the hard part. Type results in, share a link. No schedule needed first and no game cap.
- Both are free with ads. Removing them costs $9.95 a month or more on LeagueLobster, and $9.99 once per league on Simple Standings.
- Your data: export is turned off on LeagueLobster’s free plan. CSV export is free on Simple Standings.

The real difference: which end you start from
LeagueLobster is a scheduling engine first. You give it teams, venues, time slots and rules, it produces a fixture list, you publish it, and standings fill in as you enter each game’s score. If your league runs on three diamonds with a curfew and two teams who share a coach, that solver is worth a lot.
Simple Standings starts at the other end. You get a standings table on day one and type into it. A schedule and a player stats table are there if you want them, and you can generate round robin or knockout matchups, but nothing has to exist before the table does. Most rec leagues already know who plays when; what they lack is a clean table everyone can open on a phone.
What a season costs
Both are free if you accept ads on the public page. The difference is what it costs to turn them off. On LeagueLobster that is a subscription: LITE at $9.95 USD a month, billed monthly (there is no annual plan), so a four-month season with no ads is at least 4 × $9.95 = $39.80, more if you go past 100 games in a month. On Simple Standings it is $9.99 USD once for that league, and it stays ad-free next season too.
Free LeagueLobster also has export turned off, so your own schedule stays on their site until you pay. Simple Standings exports every table to CSV on the free plan.
Where LeagueLobster is clearly better
- Constraint scheduling: venues, time slots, travel between venues, max games per day, back-to-backs (PRO).
- Online registration and payments, with team, player and free-agent forms.
- Playoff brackets, multiple divisions and a website with a custom domain (PRO).
- Exports in the formats TeamSnap, SportsEngine, GameChanger and LeagueApps import (paid plans).
Who should pick LeagueLobster
- Organizers fitting games around several venues, time slots and travel.
- Leagues that take registration fees online and want it in the same tool.
- Clubs that want a website, divisions and brackets on one subscription.
- Anyone who builds a schedule once and hands it to TeamSnap, SportsEngine or GameChanger.
Where Simple Standings falls short
- No scheduling around venues, time slots or travel. You add dates and venues yourself.
- No registration, payments or team messaging.
- No website or custom domain: a share page on simplestandings.com.
- Divisions are separate leagues, each with its own link, not one page with tabs.
- Ads on the public page unless you pay the $9.99.
Questions
Frequently asked
- Is LeagueLobster free?
- Yes, with limits: the free plan includes 50 games a month, shows ads on the published schedule and has export turned off. LITE ($9.95 USD a month) and PRO ($29.95 USD a month) remove the ads, turn export on and include 100 games, with $0.10 or $0.25 per extra game.
- Can I use both?
- Yes. You can build the fixture list in LeagueLobster and keep the table in Simple Standings. On a paid LeagueLobster plan you can export the schedule to CSV and import it, so the games sit on the same link as the table.
- Do I need a schedule to get standings in Simple Standings?
- No. Standings work on their own. Add a schedule later if you want one.
- Which is cheaper with no ads?
- For one league, Simple Standings: $9.99 once, against at least $9.95 a month on LeagueLobster. If you need LeagueLobster’s scheduling or registration, though, the comparison is not really about price.
