## Want full hockey league software?

Schedules, registration and stats for a hockey league in one place. Simple Standings does not do that today; if enough hockey organizers want it, it will be built. The HTML page has an email sign-up for organizers who want it, worded: "Yes, email me if Simple Standings builds hockey league software, plus Simple Standings news and tips. Unsubscribe anytime."

## Why Simple Standings

Beer leagues, shinny nights, ball hockey and weekend tournaments still need someone at the bench with a pen. This sheet has everything a scorekeeper writes down during a game, on one US Letter page: both rosters, every goal with its assists and the period and time it went in, penalties with their minutes, shots and the score by period, the goalies’ saves, how the game ended, and lines for the officials to sign. Type the league, teams, date and rink before you print if you like, or print it blank and write everything in. After the game, the final score goes into a free Simple Standings table, where a win, a loss or an overtime loss moves the points for you.

## How it works

### 1. Print it

Type in the league, teams and date first if you like, then print. It fits on one Letter page.

### 2. Keep score at the rink

Rosters before puck drop, then goals, assists, penalties and shots as the game goes.

### 3. Post the result

Report the final score in Simple Standings and the points table updates for the whole league.

## Frequently asked questions

### How do I print it on one page?

Press Print this sheet (or Ctrl+P, Cmd+P on a Mac). Choose Letter, portrait, and the default scale. Only the sheet prints: the menus, this text and the sign-up are left off. On A4 paper, choose Fit to page.

### Is it free? Do I need an account?

Yes, it is free, and you do not need an account or a download. Print as many as you need.

### Can I fill it in on my computer?

The game details at the top (league, division, date, start time, arena, game number and the two team names) can be typed in before you print. Everything else is meant to be written in by hand during the game.

### Can I use it for an association or sanctioned game?

Check with your association first. Sanctioned minor hockey games usually have to use the association’s own game sheet or electronic scoresheet. This sheet is for leagues and events that keep their own records, such as beer leagues, drop-in and shinny, ball and roller hockey, and tournaments.

### What do PP, SH and EN mean?

PP is a power-play goal, scored while the other team has a player in the penalty box. SH is short-handed, scored while your own team is a player down. EN is an empty-net goal, scored after the other team pulled its goalie.

### How do I work out a goalie’s saves?

Saves are shots against minus goals against. A goalie who faced 30 shots and let in 3 made 27 saves, a .900 save percentage.

### What do I do with the sheet after the game?

Enter the final score in your league’s Simple Standings table with Report score. Tick OT/SO for a game decided in overtime or a shootout, and the losing team gets an overtime loss instead of a loss. On the Advanced hockey preset, points are W × 2 + OTL, so they update on their own. A box score adds each player’s goals and assists to the statistics table.
